Ripstop, a synonym for durability and indestructibility, originated during World War II in the USA, where it was meant to replace natural silk. Nowadays, you can also find it as Ripstop-Nylon. It is created using a special method, which creates perfect strength. So how does it work?
In a regular fabric, more durable warp or weft threads are woven in at intervals of 5 to 8 mm. Thanks to the use of fibers with different thicknesses, patterns are created through crossing. This special method creates, for example, squares, rhombuses, or hexagons. The unevenness can be noticed not only visually but also by touch. The strength is such that if the fabric were to be torn, cut, or otherwise damaged, the hole will not spread any further. This is caused precisely thanks to the durability of the material, which simply stops it and prevents it from getting bigger.
